Savannah Roy, M.A.
PhD Student
Savannah Roy is a 4th-year graduate student in the Applied Social Psychology PhD program at Claremont Graduate University (CGU) from a small town near Colorado Springs, Colorado. Her research explores help-seeking among individuals experiencing psychological distress, with a particular focus on those experiencing heightened depressive symptomatology. She is deeply interested in motivation theories and their role in shaping attitudes, intentions, and outcome expectations surrounding help-seeking, aiming to uncover why individuals may hesitate to seek support even when it could be beneficial. In the lab, Savannah is delving into the interplay between positive emotion infusions and mental health help-seeking. Her current projects investigate how reflecting on positive future events might enhance present positive emotions, potentially influencing immediate help-seeking tendencies. With a strong passion for data-driven insights, Savannah excels in quantitative analysis and enjoys mastering advanced statistical techniques to advance mental health research.
