AK graduated from CGU with two degrees in psychology: an MA in Health Behavior Research and Evaluation and a PhD in Social Psychology. Her research at CGU focused on designing novel, theory-based interventions to increase help-seeking for individuals with elevated depressive symptomatology as well as factors that impact help-seeking within the familial unit. She spent five years at Penn State University College of Medicine (PSU) Department of Psychiatry, assisting with research related to pharmacogenetics and the relationship between bipolar disorder and circadian rhythms. AK is finishing a T-32 post-doc at PSU in Family and Community Medicine, where she revamped her successful PhD intervention to be more inclusive of additional mood disorders and is focusing on encouraging seeking help from professional and paraprofessional resources.
